THE INVESTITURE CEREMONY
The Investiture and Scholar Badge Ceremony was held on 30th March 2010.The chosen theme for the event was Collaborative Leadership and the Chief Guest was Pravin Kumar Tripathi Chief Secretary of NCT Delhi who invested the school appointees with their portfolios. Mr. Rakesh Mohan Secretary Education Government of NCT was the guest of honor who awarded the young scholars with their scholar badges and certificates. The Chairman of DPS Society Mr. Ashok Chandra also inspired the children by sharing the secrets of a good leader also graced the occasion with his presence. To re-iterate the urgency of collaborative leadership in the changing world a talk show was held on the topic Leadership challenges in the 21st Century .The Cultural Programme which showcased a the cycle of life in a powerful dance and a five language song presented by the tiny tots.was followed by the Investiture Ceremony . In his address the Chief Guest appreciated the role of the school in sensitizing the students to the issue of collaborative leadership.

FAREWELL-BLAST FROM THE PAST

“Why does it take a minute to say hello and forever to say goodbye?”

Keeping this thought in mind, the new A1 made the usually heart-wrenching ceremony of a Farewell, into a rock-n-roll bonanza! With the theme of the Farewell as retro, the event saw students, alumni, teachers, and even the Principal dressing up in her finest 70s attire. Alumni were delighted to see their juniors dancing to popular tunes and giving fantastic vocal performances to popular modern music. A Best Friends Forever Quiz flaunted the wonderful friendships that were cultivated in the corridors of DPS International. Along with crowning of Ms. DPSI, Shaily Saluja, and Mr. DPSI, Hitesh Shewakramani, the ex-students were given some humorous, some meaningful tags by their teachers.
A proper convocation ceremony ensured that the essence of graduation was truly captured, with the ex-Heads, Hitesh Shewakramani and Shaily Saluja, as well as commerce batch topper, Gauri Mittal displaying gratitude towards their school and teachers through their touching speeches.

GYLI

On 4th and 5th February 2011 fifteen of our students accompanied by two teachers Ms. Rachna Shukla, Ms. Sonia Menon participated in the Global Young Leadership Institute’s Leadership development programme at Bangalore. The GYLI curriculum centered on themes relating to Collaborative Leadership, Religious Pluralism, Multicultural Identity and Environmental Sustainability. These aspects of leadership were explained to the students through interactive games and group activities . Through the concept of a Leadership Learning Plan (LLP) the students were asked to develop a project idea relating to a pressing issue in their school and the community. The feasible vision of DPSI students was to reduce traffic congestion near the school premises and improve the conditions of the construction workers in the vicinity. The students brainstormed intensively to make the presentation .The two day conference was an immensely enriching experience for all the students and helped them understand the core values of leadership.

ACTIVITY WEEK

India Unplugged Quiz: In order to make students aware of India’s rich cultural heritage of the past and the developments taking place in the present, “India Unplugged Quiz” For Senior & Middle School was organized with the hope that they can learn about the past, understand the present and become the policy maker of future.
Each round of the Quiz had its own level of excitement as after each round one team was getting eliminated. The order of questions was from simple to complex thereby some met with spontaneous responses whereas other stimulated student’s intellect and provided the food for their thought. The quiz was not only well received and appreciated but kept the students enthralled and they kept glued to their seat throughout.
Questions of the Quiz covered a wide spectrum of knowledge ranging from light areas such as Entertainment, music, Dance, Sports to the thoughtful subjects such as India’s History, Geography, Economics, Technology and the like.

Talent Show: There was a talent show held in our school auditiorium. This talent show was an unique iniative to exhibit the hidden talents in a student. This show was organised by our very own student council. This talent show had a variety of extravaganza like music and dance. I, nupoor singh participated in this competition, with high spirits and enthusiasm.

SUPER SATURDAY

IT Day In a time when studies were in full swing, the student council organized an inter-house event targeted to destress students. An event to encourage house spirit and even evoke love for the subject a half day full of the following IT activities was conducted.

MORNING ASSEMBLIES

The various houses and classes organize morning assemblies on Tuesday and Friday. The assemblies showcase the talent of the students and are a tool of spreading awareness among the student community.
