(Series : ‘Parents as Partners’ , Class III)
25th November 2014
In yet another story telling session by a parent volunteer, the students of class III acquired facts about Alexander Fleming and also understood ‘The power of a good deed’.
The story was about Alexander Fleming’s father, a farmer, whose good deed of saving a little boy from mire brought him the good fortune of getting best of education for his own son. The noble man, who was the father of the little boy, extended his gratitude by offering money to the farmer, which was not accepted by him. Being humbled by his attitude, the noble man offered to sponsor his son’s education. Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of penicillin.
Years later, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia. Penicillin was administered and his life was saved !!!
The name of the nobleman was, Lord Randolph Churchill. His son's name was, Sir Winston Churchill.
Surely, ‘What goes around comes around’!
We extend our thanks to Ms Ranjini Rao for the wonderful story telling session.
