Senior Secondary Curriculum

The school has opted for the October / November session for students taking the IGCSE or A level examinations.

ACADEMIC PLAN FOR GRADES IX AND X

 

Learners proceeding to Grades IX and X follow a two-year programme leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) under the aegis of Cambridge International Examinations. The IGCSE is a two-year course of equivalent standard to the GCSE in the UK. There is strong emphasis not merely on information but on the learning of academic and practical skills. The IGCSE examination is taken at the end of Grade X.

 

Students have to choose the following:

Compulsory Subjects:

1. First Language English or English as a Second Language.

2. Mathematics

3. Hindi as a Second Language or Foreign Langugage Option: French, German and Spanish.

 

The following subjects are offered.

1. Physics

2. Biology

3. Chemistry

4. Accounting

5. Economics

6. Business Studies

7. Geography

8. History

9. Information and communication teacnology or Computer Studies.

10. Literature in English

11. Environmental Management

A minimum of 5 students should opt for a subject to make it possible for the school to offer the subject.

 

ACADEMIC PLAN FOR GRADES XI and XII

GCE 'ADVANCED' level is taken at the end of grade XII

The above programme is a two-year course leading to examinations at the end of Grade XII.

Success in 'A' levels will give access to the top universities around the world and in the Indian sub-continent.

A Levels are one of the most recognised qualifications around the world. They are accepted as proof of academic ability for entry into universities, institutes of higher education.

The subject content of each of the new A Level syllabus has been divided into two parts: the A1 syllabus content which is expected to be covered in the first half of the course, and the A2 which is the second part of the syllabus. The students take A Level components at the end of the course of study - usually at the end of the second year.

A level :

  • Minimum 3 Subjects
  • Maximum 5 Subjects

Compulsory Subject : AS Level English Language

AS Level English Language + Minimum 3 A Level Subjects
OR
AS Level English Language + 3 A Level Subjects + 1 AS Level Subject

NB:

  • Minimum Credits required for college admission is 3 credits
    (1 Credit is awarded for one A Level Subject).
  • To get full credit for commerce subjects, A Level Mathematics is a requirement.
  • Grades below C are not acceptable for admission to college.
